Salary: £55,000 > £75,000 - DOE - + Travel Allowance + Benefits + Bonus

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Business Rates Surveyor / Senior/ Associate Surveyor to join a growing Rating team within a well-established UK property consultancy.

Working alongside experienced specialists, you will advise a diverse portfolio of occupier, investor and public sector clients on all aspects of business rates liability and mitigation. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of commercial property types and the opportunity to take responsibility for client relationships from an early stage.

This position would suit a recently qualified surveyor or an individual with up to three years' post-qualification experience looking to develop their career within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on business rates assessments and liabilities.
  • Preparing and negotiating Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) submissions.
  • Reviewing rating lists and identifying opportunities for savings.
  • Managing client portfolios and delivering strategic rating advice.
  • Undertaking inspections and property data collection where required.
  • Liaising with the Valuation Office Agency and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and client presentations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports, proposals and technical advice.
  • Monitoring legislative and market developments affecting business rates.
  • Contributing to team knowledge sharing and professional development activities.

About You

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Real Estate, Property, Surveying or a related discipline.
  • MRICS qualified or working towards professional qualification.
  • Experience within business rates/rating, property tax, valuation or a related surveying discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Up to 3 years post-qualification experience within a rating consultancy environment.
  • Knowledge of UK rating legislation and the appeals process.
  • Experience of managing client relationships and fee-earning responsibilities.
  • Confidence in networking and supporting business development activities.
