The Role

We are recruiting a Global Commodity Manager to lead direct material commodity strategies for a global manufacturing business operating across multiple production sites.

The specific commodity or sector background is not critical. Success in this role depends on proven experience managing direct procurement commodities in manufacturing, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and driving alignment between global strategy and local execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute global commodity strategies for direct materials and production-related components

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including market analysis, RFx, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management

  • Own relationships with strategic and critical global suppliers, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and continuity of supply

  • Drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives using should-cost, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership approaches

  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams on demand planning, design changes, and product lifecycle management

  • Lead supplier consolidation, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Establish and manage global framework agreements, preferred supplier lists, KPIs, and SLAs

  • Monitor supplier performance and lead corrective action plans where required

  • Support and guide regional and site procurement teams while retaining global commodity ownership

  • Ensure sourcing strategies align with sustainability, compliance, and ethical sourcing standards

  • Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and long-term commodity roadmaps

About You

  • 10 years' procurement experience, with a strong focus on direct materials procurement in manufacturing

  • Proven experience in a Global Commodity Manager or senior Category Manager role

  • Experience managing complex direct material commodities (components, assemblies, raw materials, or similar)

  • Track record of operating effectively in multinational, matrix organisations

  • Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills

  • Confident influencing senior stakeholders across technical and operational functions

  • Structured, data-driven, and pragmatic approach

What We Offer

  • €80,000 to €90,000 + Benefits

  • A senior, visible role within a global manufacturing organisation

  • Opportunity to shape and mature global direct procurement strategies

  • International exposure and collaboration

  • Travel reimbursement and wellbeing benefits
