W Talent are exclusively representing a growing manufacturing business who are looking to recruit a permanent night shift Engineering Supervisor to join their Engineering team.
This is a site-based role working 4 x 10-hour night shifts per week, operating across Sunday to Friday, with the flexibility to choose your preferred rota.
The Engineering Supervisor will work closely with the Head of Engineering and wider Engineering team, supporting the day-to-day engineering function and taking responsibility for maintenance systems, planned preventative maintenance, reliability, parts management and engineering performance.
Job Description
The Engineering Supervisor will play a key role in coordinating the site's engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring planned maintenance and reliability systems are effectively managed to maximise machinery uptime and support site targets.
The role will combine engineering supervision, maintenance coordination and hands-on technical support, with responsibility for PPM schedules, CMMS, parts management, engineering KPIs and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will also support the Head of Engineering with day-to-day engineering activities and deputise where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Shift Engineers and Shift Setters
- Coordinate planned preventative maintenance schedules and ensure they remain up to date
- Support the effective use and ongoing development of the site's CMMS
- Ensure maintenance activities are planned effectively around equipment availability and production downtime
- Lead reliability maintenance schedules and continuous improvement activities
- Carry out root cause analysis following significant equipment failures or lost-time events
- Monitor engineering KPIs, outstanding works and PPM performance
- Support daily engineering handovers and communicate key issues and actions
- Manage engineering parts stock, ordering, deliveries and regular stock takes
- Support the purchasing of parts and services in line with agreed budgets
- Monitor engineering spend and highlight potential overspends
- Ensure maintenance and parts systems meet BRC and customer audit requirements
- Oversee contractor activity and ensure appropriate site procedures are followed
- Ensure service contracts are delivered to agreed standards
- Support engineering projects from design through to completion
- Support the management of Permit to Work systems and RAMS
- Work closely with the Engineering team to maximise plant and machinery availability
- Support the Head of Engineering with people-related processes where required
- Deputise for the Head of Engineering when required
- Ensure engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, Quality and GMP requirements
Key Requirements
- Engineering supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering systems
- Experience working with a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Experience developing and managing PPM schedules
- Understanding of reliability maintenance and root cause analysis
- Experience managing engineering projects
- Experience with engineering parts management and maintenance budgets
- Experience with RAMS and Permit to Work systems
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety within an engineering environment
- Good understanding of GMP and maintenance standards
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and support an Engineering team
- Comfortable working a permanent night shift pattern
Advantageous Requirements
- FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing experience
- Experience working to BRC or customer audit requirements
- Experience writing maintenance procedures relating to GMP
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
- Experience working with mechanical, electrical and logic control systems
