Due to ongoing growth and investment, they are now seeking a Maintenance Manager to join their senior leadership team and play a key role in driving reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across the site.
Role
W Talent Engineering are working with a key customer in Rotherham to recruit an experienced and highly capable Maintenance Manager. This individual will take full ownership of the site's engineering and maintenance function within a heavy industrial / process environment, leading a skilled team to deliver high levels of asset reliability and plant performance.
This is a critical leadership role focused on embedding a proactive maintenance culture, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the business through operational and strategic transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal reliability and efficiency of plant and equipment.
- Plan and manage preventative and predictive maintenance activities to minimise downtime in a heavy/process environment.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of maintenance engineers, driving performance and accountability.
- Challenge the status quo and lead behavioural and cultural change across the engineering function.
- Work closely with production and operations teams to align maintenance priorities with business needs.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of plant, equipment, and facilities to identify improvement opportunities.
- Manage spare parts, inventory, and procurement processes to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations.
- Track and analyse maintenance KPIs, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements:
- HNC/HND or apprenticeship-trained in an engineering discipline (essential).
- Mechanical engineering background preferred.
- Degree-qualified in engineering (advantageous).
- Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role within a heavy industry or process manufacturing environment (e.g., steel, chemicals, energy, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, with multi-skilled capability advantageous.
- Solid knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices in industrial settings.
- Demonstrable leadership experience, with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
- Experience using CMMS and maintenance planning systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
