W Talent are partnering with a heavy engineering business based in Otley, West Yorkshire, who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a variety of engineering projects and support the delivery of high-quality manufactured products.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce models and manufacturing drawings from written specifications and concept designs.
- Support Design Managers and Project Engineers by delivering detailed design drawings within project timelines.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of technical content across manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.
- Ensure all drawing construction and numbering adheres to internal drawing system standards.
- Work under the direction of the Project Engineer/Design Manager.
- Deliver manufacturing drawings on time in line with the project schedule.
- Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with production capabilities.
- Undertake occasional site visits for surveys or to resolve technical/engineering issues.
- Develop 3D models and produce/check manufacturing drawings for issue.
- Ensure complete and accurate bills of materials are produced.
- Escalate any critical mechanical design or safety concerns to the Project Engineer/Design Manager.
- Assist with investigations into errors and contribute to identifying root causes.
- Participate in design and production review meetings as required.
- Produce simple design calculations for approval.
- Carry out any additional duties appropriate to the role and business needs.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- HNC or Degree in Mechanical, Product or Design Engineering.
- Experience using Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or other 3D design software.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Any experience in fabrication and sheet-metal design would prove highly advantageous but not essential.
Salary & Benefits
