This is a field service role covering customers across the UK, providing specialist technical support and solutions to help food manufacturing sites maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, compliance and performance.

The role will involve regular travel to customer sites, working closely with technical and operational teams to provide practical support, improve compliance and ensure customers are audit ready.
Job Description
The Technical Manager will work closely with food manufacturing clients, providing technical support around food safety, BRCGS compliance, audit readiness, validation, technical documentation and chemical implementation.
A key part of the role will be helping customers prepare for audits, identifying areas requiring improvement and ensuring their technical systems and documentation are compliant and up to date. You will regularly visit customer sites across the UK, working directly with technical and operational teams to provide technical support, support product trials and implementation, complete audits and help customers maintain compliance with relevant food safety and technical standards.
The role will also involve working alongside hygiene teams, providing technical guidance around products and processes, supporting training and helping customers demonstrate that their cleaning and hygiene systems meet the required standards.
This role would suit an experienced Technical professional from a food manufacturing background, with strong knowledge of BRCGS and food hygiene standards and experience working alongside hygiene teams. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in a field-based environment and confident providing practical technical advice directly to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing technical support to food manufacturing clients across the UK.
- Support customers with BRCGS compliance and audit readiness.
- Visit customer sites regularly to assess technical and food safety standards.
- Conduct technical audits and identify areas requiring improvement ahead of customer and third-party audits.
- Support customers with validation activities and supporting documentation.
- Review and maintain technical documentation, training records and compliance files.
- Support product trials and implementation across customer sites.
- Provide technical guidance around the effective use of products and processes.
- Work alongside hygiene teams to support technical and compliance requirements.
- Provide training and technical guidance to customer teams where required.
- Support technical teams with chemical-related queries and provide practical solutions.
- Assist with swab testing and verification activity where required.
- Record and maintain accurate technical data from customer visits, trials, audits and training.
- Support customers with corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with customer technical and operational teams.
- Provide ongoing post-sale technical support to ensure customers achieve the required standards.
- Work closely with the wider technical and commercial teams to support customer requirements.
- Travel extensively across the UK to customer sites on a regular basis.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience within a Technical, Technical Services, Quality or Food Safety role.
- Strong experience within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of BRCGS.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and audit requirements.
- Experience supporting food manufacturing sites with audit preparation and compliance.
- Experience with validation, technical documentation and maintaining compliance records.
- Experience working alongside hygiene teams within a food manufacturing environment.
- Confident providing technical guidance and training to customer teams.
- Experience with chemical usage, cleaning processes or hygiene systems would be highly beneficial.
- Comfortable conducting site visits, audits and technical assessments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
- Willingness to travel across the UK on a regular basis.
Advantageous Requirements
- Experience working directly with food manufacturing customers in a technical or consultancy capacity.
- Knowledge of major retail food hygiene standards and retailer requirements.
- Experience with chemical trials, product validation or chemical implementation.
- Experience with swab testing and verification of cleaning standards.
- HACCP, food safety or other relevant technical qualifications.
- Experience supporting multiple food manufacturing sites.
- Previous field-based technical or consultancy experience.
