We are working on behalf of a property consultancy seeking an experienced and motivated Business Rates Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to work from home while managing a varied portfolio of commercial properties across the UK.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate business rates advice, managing appeals, and identifying cost-saving opportunities for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of commercial properties for business rates purposes
- Review rateable values and identify opportunities for reductions
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate business rates appeals through all stages (Check, Challenge, Appeal)
- Liaise with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and other relevant authorities
- Provide strategic advice to clients on business rates liabilities and mitigation strategies
- Analyse property data, lease information, and market evidence
- Maintain accurate records and case files using internal systems
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication
- Stay up to date with legislation, case law, and industry developments
