W Talent Engineering and Manufacturing are supporting a well-established heavy engineering business based in Sheffield find a Quality Engineer to add to their growing Quality Department.
This established heavy engineering organisation operates within the UK manufacturing sector, producing high-integrity, precision-engineered components for a range of safety-critical and technically demanding industries, including aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine, and oil & gas.
The business offers a comprehensive suite of metallurgical capabilities, supporting projects from raw material processing through to fully finished components. With expertise across a variety of advanced materials the company works closely with OEMs and tier suppliers who require consistent quality, traceability, and performance.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to help maintain and enhance quality standards, systems, and accreditations across the business. You will act as a key point of contact for quality assurance, ensuring the achievement of critical KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). With quality requirements constantly evolving in heavy engineering environments, experience with quality management systems such as ISO9001 is essential. Continuous improvement will be a significant focus of this role, providing the opportunity to review, develop, and enhance quality processes, making a measurable impact on business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and continuously improve the Non-Conformance Register, minimising NCR dwell time.
  • Lead root cause analysis activities using structured methodologies such as 3C's, 5WHY's, and 8D's.
  • Support and maintain Nadcap and customer accreditations.
  • Conduct internal audits and quality inspections on work in progress.
  • Analyse and report on quality data for both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A highly motivated Quality Engineer with a strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience within heavy engineering, manufacturing, heavy process, CNC machining, or similar environments.
  • HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification (Six Sigma Green Belt advantageous).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information at all levels of the organisation.
  • A proactive team player with strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
