We are recruiting on behalf of an established electronics manufacturing company in Chesterfield, known for its commitment to quality and innovation in delivering high-performance electronic products.
They are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, streamline production processes, and support new product introduction (NPI). This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and skilled engineer to make a significant impact on process efficiency and product quality within a progressive manufacturing environment.
Role Responsibilities:
- Identify, design, and implement CI projects across production processes.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to eliminate waste, improve quality, and enhance efficiency.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and KPIs to track improvements and support ongoing CI efforts.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure smooth NPI processes.
- Develop and document production requirements and workflows for new products.
- Conduct pilot production runs and prototyping to identify and mitigate potential process issues early.
- Assess and optimize production line layouts, material flow, and workstation setups for maximum efficiency.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key processes.
- Implement poka-yoke (mistake-proofing) and other quality-enhancing techniques to reduce defect rates.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, process inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Present findings and recommendations for process improvements to senior management.
- Maintain thorough documentation for CI activities and process adjustments to support compliance and traceability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to address process-related quality challenges.
- Partner with supply chain and procurement to enhance material flow and reduce lead times.
- Train and support production teams in implementing CI practices and ensuring adherence to process improvements.
Key Requirements:
- Educational Background in Process, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment, ideally within electronics or a similar sector.
- knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI tools and methodologies (certifications are advantageous).
