Lead Electrical Engineer: Barnsley, £40,000 - £60,000 + Bonus Package
W Talent is proud to be exclusively supporting a well-established manufacturing business located in Barnsley who are looking to appointment a Group Lead Electrical Engineer working across three sites with the main site being in South Yorkshire - S35 2PW.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Hands on, Electrical Engineer to take on a group-level role, supporting multiple sites and projects across the business. The position will play a key part in driving electrical standards, compliance, reliability and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and operational environments.
The Role
The Group Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and support across all electrical systems within the organisation. Working closely with Engineering, Production and Projects teams, you will ensure electrical infrastructure, plant equipment and project installations are safe, compliant and operating at optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide group-wide electrical engineering support across manufacturing and operational sites.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Support installation, commissioning and validation of new plant, equipment and capital projects.
- Lead electrical fault-finding and root cause analysis on complex issues.
- Drive standardisation of electrical systems, documentation and maintenance procedures across the group.
- Support preventative maintenance strategies to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with contractor management and oversee third-party electrical works.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure all electrical documentation, schematics and certification are maintained and updated.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to site-based engineers.
Key Requirements
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (18th Edition qualification).
- Proven experience in an Electrical Engineer role within manufacturing, heavy industry or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control panels, drives, motors and PLCs.
- Experience supporting capital projects and equipment installations.
- Good understanding of UK electrical regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
- Comfortable working both strategically and hands-on when required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Salary & Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependent on background experience and will be mainly based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire S35 2PW.
