Group Indirect Commodity Buyer

Belper, Derbyshire | Industrial Manufacturing | Indirect Procurement

Are you an experienced procurement professional looking to take ownership of commodity strategies within a global manufacturing environment?

We are partnering with a leading business in the heating and building technologies sector to recruit a Group Commodity Buyer. Based at their industrial site in Belper, this is an opportunity to join an international purchasing organisation, working closely with colleagues across Europe and managing relationships with a global supplier base.

Reporting to the Head of Indirect Purchasing, you will play a key role in developing and delivering commodity strategies, driving commercial value and strengthening supplier performance across a diverse indirect spend portfolio.

The role

  • Develop and implement commodity strategies across indirect materials, services and capital investment.
  • Manage an international supplier base, balancing global strategy with local business requirements.
  • Support fellow Group Commodity Buyers in developing, implementing and monitoring supplier strategies.
  • Lead pre-contract activities, commercial negotiations, contract award and ongoing contract management.
  • Deliver cost savings and measurable financial benefits against agreed targets.
  • Monitor and continuously improve supplier performance and purchasing KPIs.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive value, quality and service.

Categories of spend

Your portfolio will cover a broad range of indirect procurement categories, including:

  • Engineering and technical services
  • IT services and technology
  • Utilities and energy
  • Capital investment and equipment
  • Industrial consumables
  • Marketing and business services

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in indirect procurement, ideally within manufacturing or an industrial environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering commodity or category strategies.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
  • A track record of delivering cost savings and improving supplier performance.
  • The ability to manage international suppliers and collaborate across global teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to influence at all levels.
  • A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, results-driven approach.

The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join an international manufacturing organisation where procurement has a direct impact on business performance. You will have the autonomy to shape supplier strategies, influence commercial decisions and contribute to the continued development of a global purchasing function.

If you're ready to take the next step in your procurement career, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
