The Role

We are recruiting a Global Commodity Manager to support and develop direct material commodity strategies for a global manufacturing business operating across multiple production sites.

This is a strategic procurement role within a complex, matrix organisation. You will be involved in developing and executing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering improvements across cost, performance and supply continuity.

The specific commodity or sector background is not critical. What is important is experience within direct procurement in a manufacturing environment, strong commercial capability, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and locations.

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer, Commodity Manager or Category Manager looking to take the next step into a broader global procurement role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of global commodity strategies for direct materials and production-related components
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market analysis, RFx, negotiation, contracting and supplier performance management
  • Develop and manage relationships with strategic and key suppliers, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness and continuity of supply
  • Drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives using benchmarking, market analysis and total cost of ownership approaches
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain teams on demand planning, design changes and product lifecycle management
  • Support supplier consolidation, dual-sourcing and supply chain risk mitigation strategies
  • Develop and manage supplier agreements, preferred supplier lists, KPIs and SLAs
  • Monitor supplier performance and support corrective action plans where required
  • Work closely with regional and site procurement teams to ensure alignment between global strategy and local execution
  • Ensure sourcing strategies align with sustainability, compliance and ethical sourcing standards
  • Contribute to budget planning, forecasting and longer-term commodity strategies

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded procurement professional who is ready to take on greater responsibility within a global manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

  • 5+ years' procurement experience, with a focus on direct materials procurement within manufacturing
  • Experience within a Buyer, Commodity Manager, Category Manager or similar procurement position
  • Experience managing direct material commodities, including components, assemblies, raw materials or similar
  • Experience working within a multinational or matrix organisation would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills
  • The confidence to influence stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain
  • A structured, data-driven and pragmatic approach
  • Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills
  • The ambition to develop within a broader global procurement environment
  • Willingness to work across international teams and travel when required

What We Offer

  • €70,000 + Benefits
  • A strategic procurement position within a global manufacturing organisation
  • The opportunity to develop and shape global direct procurement strategies
  • International exposure and collaboration across multiple locations
  • Travel reimbursement
  • Wellbeing benefits
  • Excellent opportunity for career development within a global procurement function

If you are an experienced direct procurement professional looking to take the next step in your career and gain broader international exposure, we would be keen to hear from you.
