About the Company
Our client is a well-established stockist and distributor supplying products to customers across multiple sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an ambitious and motivated Buyer who is looking to start their career within procurement and supply chain.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and commercial awareness who is looking for their first Buyer position. Full support and training will be provided, including sponsorship towards CIPS qualifications and ongoing development within a growing procurement team.
The Role
Working closely with the Senior Buyer, you will support the purchasing function by ensuring products and materials are ordered efficiently, suppliers are managed effectively, and stock availability is maintained to meet customer demand.
This role offers excellent exposure to procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and supply chain operations, making it an ideal first step into a buying career.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Raise purchase orders and manage supplier deliveries.
- Monitor order confirmations and ensure products are delivered on time.
- Build positive relationships with suppliers and support day-to-day communication.
- Assist with sourcing new suppliers and products when required.
- Support the Senior Buyer with supplier reviews and cost-saving initiatives.
- Resolve supplier queries and delivery issues in a timely manner.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements.
- Support the management of inventory to maintain availability while avoiding excess stock.
- Assist with stock reviews and reporting.
- Help identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and support corrective actions.
Supply Chain & Administration
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system.
- Produce reports and analyse purchasing data where required.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure product availability and customer requirements are met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply chain function.
- Ensure purchasing records and documentation are maintained accurately.
About You
We're looking for someone who is keen to develop a career within procurement and supply chain. Previous buying experience is not essential; however, experience within an office-based, administrative, customer service, supply chain, logistics, stock control, or purchasing support environment would be advantageous.
