A professional services organisation based in the Midlands is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Manager to join their team based in Birmingham. This role will support the Head of Marketing & Business Development with the delivery of the Marketing & BD Strategy. This is a pivotal role working directly with partners to support with in client development activities and achieve the firm’s wider market strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Make recommendations to the partners based on sound analysis for an ongoing business development and marketing plan that takes account of competitor activity, affordability, and ease of delivery.
- Translates the firm’s business development and marketing plan into departmental and individual plans through working directly with partners and fee earners, providing support and coaching activity and regularly reporting back to the Partners on progress.
- Responsibility for managing a streamlined, comprehensive, and effective approach to managing bids and tenders, which delivers demonstrable results in terms of winning new business.
- Work with lead partners to deliver bids and tenders on time and in line with the plan, ensuring others involvement as required and as appropriate, including direct involvement as necessary. Identify obstacles and work with the partners to develop solutions to overcome these.
- Develop and implement effective mechanisms for measuring Return on Investment and use these to inform recommendations to the Partners on where efforts and budget should be directed, in line with the overall business development plan.
Job Qualifications:
- Graduate or equivalent qualification
- Substantial and proven experience across all business development and marketing disciplines to include bids and tenders, business development targeting and pipeline creation, directory submissions, implementing and supporting a sector approach, communications and digital.
- Awareness of growing trends/developments in the broader legal market.
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to pro-actively engage with fee earners through a credible and visible approach e.g. floor walking, attending events jointly, providing coaching and guidance.
- Line management experience
- Strong literacy skills with the ability to write professionally and coherently to a variety of audiences.
