Role Overview
As a Broker, you will act as an intermediary between institutional counterparties, matching buyers and sellers across a range of financial instruments. You will be responsible for maintaining client relationships, executing trades, and contributing to the commercial success of your desk, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.
This is a client-facing, revenue-generating role that demands market awareness, communication excellence, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Client Coverage: Build, maintain, and expand strong relationships with institutional clients, understanding their trading needs and providing relevant market opportunities.
Trade Execution: Negotiate and execute trades between counterparties, ensuring timely and accurate completion of transactions.
Market Intelligence: Deliver up-to-date market color, pricing, and insights to clients to support informed trading decisions.
Revenue Growth: Drive business development efforts to increase market share and revenue for your desk.
Compliance: Ensure all broking activity adheres to regulatory obligations (e.g., MiFID II, FCA, AMF) and company compliance procedures.
Collaboration: Work closely with other brokers, sales, and research teams to ensure comprehensive market coverage and seamless client service.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline (Master’s degree advantageous).
Proven experience (2–5+ years) in broking, trading, or a financial markets environment.
Strong understanding of financial instruments such as bonds, derivatives, FX, equities, or commodities.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and operate effectively under pressure in a high-volume trading environment.
Strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
Proficiency in Bloomberg, Reuters, or other trading and market data systems.
Regulatory certification (e.g., FCA-authorised or equivalent) preferred, depending on jurisdiction.
